Shimla, December 20
An agreement to sell the Yamunarsquo;s river water in Himachal to the Delhi Government was today signed in New Delhi between the two governments.
The agreement was signed between RN Batta, Secretary, Irrigation, and Public Health and Principal Secretary of Delhi Manisha Saxena. Now, the Himachal Government will get Rs21 crore per annum.
Batta said as per a multi-state agreement signed in 1994, Himachal got three per cent share of the Yamuna water. This share remained unclaimed since 1994. It was on the request of the Delhi Government that Himachal Cabinet decided to sell the statersquo;s share to Delhi. mdash; TNS
