Patients’ thumb impression verification started at IGMC, Shimla

The Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla, has introduced the facility of bedside thumb impression verification for critically-ill patients to activate their Ayushman Bharat cards.

"Patients had to come for thumb impression verification to activate their Ayushman Bharat package. Critically-ill and bed-ridden patients used to face a lot of inconvenience in activating their cards. So, the facility of bedside thumb impression verification has been introduced for them," says Dr Gopal Ashish Sharma, Nodal Officer, Administration.

He added, "The initiative has proved very helpful for patients and we have done over 500 bedside thumb impression verification since it was launched."

Sharma said that the previous system was inconvenient for critically-ill patients and it delayed the availability of facilities under the schemes. "Now, a designated Ayushman Mitra goes to a patient, verifies his thumb impression and his card is activated immediately," he added.

Besides, the hospital has brought all services related to Ayushman Bharat/Himcare at one place. "Services like card activation, package form and medicines are available close to each other. Now, one doesn't have to visit different blocks or floors to avail of these services," said Dr Sharma.

पहाड़ का हर दूसरा युवा कमजोर, 5वां मोबाइल की लत का शिकार

स्वास्थ्य के लिहाज से महानगरों की तुलना में ग्रामीण व पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों को बेहतर माना जाता है लेकिन राज्य और केंद्र सरकार के एक सर्वे में पता चला है कि हिमालय की युवा पीढ़ी पांच तरह की स्वास्थ्य समस्याओं की चपेट में है। जानकारी के अनुसार, केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय, हिमाचल स्वास्थ्य विभाग और बंगलूरू स्थित निम्हांस के शोधकर्ताओं ने मिलकर सर्वे किया। इसमें लगभग हर दूसरा युवा कमजोर और प्रत्येक पांचवां मोबाइल फोन की लत का शिकार पाया गया।

इतना ही नहीं, प्रत्येक 100 में से करीब 16 युवा ऐसे भी हैं जो चिंता व मानसिक तनाव से ग्रस्त हैं। इनके अलावा अचानक से लगने वाली चोट और हिंसा भी युवाओं की अपनी चपेट में ले रही है। इंडियन जर्नल ऑफ मेडिकल रिसर्च में प्रकाशित होने वाले इस सर्वे आधारित अध्ययन में बताया कि हिमाचल प्रदेश के चार जिले शिमला, किन्नौर, कांगड़ा और सिरमौर के 12 ब्लॉक (प्रत्येक जिले में तीन) में जाकर शोधकर्ताओं ने जब 10 से 24 साल की आयु के बच्चों, किशोरों और युवाओं पर अध्ययन शुरू किया तो पांच तरह की स्वास्थ्य समस्याएं सबसे अधिक देखने को मिलीं।

शोधकर्ताओं ने करीब 360 गांवों और शिमला के 30 वार्डों के बच्चों और युवाओं पर विश्लेषण किया। शोधकर्ताओं का कहना है कि किसी भी देश के लिए युवा आलोचनात्मक और साधन संपन्न आबादी बनाते हैं। भारत की बात करें तो कुल आबादी में इनका योगदान करीब 35 फीसदी तक है। हालांकि पोषण, मादक द्रव्यों का सेवन, मानसिक स्वास्थ्य, जोखिम भरा यौन संबंध, व्यवहार, व्यक्तिगत स्वच्छता, चोटें और हिंसा इनके विकास पर असर डाल रहे हैं जिन्हें लेकर जमीनी स्तर पर काम करने की बहुत जरूरत है।

10 से 24 साल वाले कुल 2895 युवाओं पर हुए इस अध्ययन के निष्कर्ष बताते हैं कि कम वजन (44.39%), सेल फोन की लत का खतरा (19.62%), चिंता महसूस करना (15.54%), अनजाने में चोट लगना (14.72%) और हिंसा (8.19%) के मामले सामने आए। यह परिणाम बताते हैं कि मोबाइल फोन की लत और कम आयु में मानसिक तनाव जैसी स्वास्थ्य समस्याएं सिर्फ महानगरों तक सीमित नहीं रह गई हैं। शोधकर्ताओं का कहना है कि यह पांचों समस्याएं ऐसी हैं जिनसे बड़े सरल तरीके से निपटा जा सकता है जिसके लिए समय पर हस्तक्षेप बहुत जरूरी है।

19% बच्चे बोले-मोबाइल के बिना नहीं रह सकते

सर्वे के दौरान 63 फीसदी से ज्यादा बच्चों और युवाओं के पास उनका खुद का मोबाइल फोन मिला। इनमें से 568 यानी 19.62 फीसदी बच्चों ने यह स्वीकार किया है कि वह फोन के बगैर नहीं रह सकते हैं। फोन पर उनकी निर्भरता बहुत है। सोशल साइट्स और मोबाइल गेम का शौक भी है। 

एम्स बिलासपुर में अगले साल से पैट स्कैन की सुविधा, मरीजों को पीजीआई जाने से मिलेगी राहत

अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (एम्स) बिलासपुर में कैंसर के मरीजों की सुविधा के लिए पैट सीटी स्कैन मशीन लगा जा रही है। अस्पताल प्रबंधन ने मशीन खरीदने की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। बताया जा रहा है कि अगले छह से नौ महीने में मरीजों को पैट स्कैन (पोजिट्रोन एमिशन ट्रोमोग्राफी) की सुविधा मिलने लगेगी। प्रदेश के लोगों को यह सुविधा देने वाला एम्स पहला स्वास्थ्य संस्थान होगा। यहां पैट स्कैन की सुविधा कम दरों पर मिलेगी। बड़ी बात यह है कि मरीजों को चंडीगढ़ का रुख भी नहीं करना पड़ेगा। एम्स प्रबंधन की मानें तो अगले साल मई-अगस्त के बीच में पैट स्कैन से मरीजों की जांच शुरू हो जाएगी।

इससे कैंसर के मरीजों को अतिरिक्त सुविधा मिल जाएगी। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार प्रारंभिक चरण में एमआरआई की तुलना में पैट स्कैन से अच्छा परिणाम मिलता है। शरीर के किस अंग और हिस्से में ट्यूमर की गांठ है, जांच में पता चल जाएगा। मेडिकल की भाषा में कहें तो कैंसर का बायोलॉजिकल कारण जांच से पता चल जाता है। इससे चिकित्सकों के लिए इलाज करने में आसानी होती है। निजी अस्पतालों में एक बार जांच के 10 से 25 हजार रुपये खर्च करने पड़ते हैं। पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ में पेट स्कैन 8500 रुपये में किया जाता है। गले और कमर के स्कैन के दाम अलग-अलग हैं। पीजीआई में पैट स्कैन के लिए मरीज को जरूरी इंजेक्शन अलग से लाने पड़ते हैं। एम्स बिलासपुर में सुविधा शुरू होने के बाद लोगों को पीजीआई आने-जाने के खर्च से भी राहत मिलेगी।

 

इसलिए कराया जाता है पैट स्कैन

पैट स्कैन डॉक्टर को कैंसर के लिए सबसे बेहतर इलाज का चयन करने में मदद करता है। यह भी बताता है कि उपचार कितने अच्छे से काम कर रहा है। पैट स्कैन यह देखने के लिए भी किया जा सकता है कि क्या ट्यूमर को निकालने के लिए सर्जरी की जा सकती है या नहीं। पैट स्कैन का इस्तेमाल यह देखने के लिए भी किया जाता है कि कैंसर कितना गंभीर है और क्या शरीर के अन्य भागों में भी फैल गया है।

 

बिलासपुर एम्स में पैट स्कैन की सुविधा छह से नौ माह में शुरू होगी। इसका कैंसर के रोगियों को बेहतर लाभ मिलेगा। प्रदेश के लोगों को पैट स्कैन कराने के लिए अभी पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ जाना पड़ता है, लेकिन अगले साल एम्स में सुविधा शुरू होने से उन्हें बाहर का रुख नहीं करना पड़ेगा। डॉ. निधि पुरी, पीआरओ एम्स

कोरोना वायरस: हिमाचल के सभी आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र, शैक्षणिक संस्थान 31 मार्च तक बंद

कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण के बढ़ते खतरे को देखते हुए हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार ने सभी स्कूल, कॉलेज विश्वविद्यालयों और सिनेमाघरों को तत्काल प्रभाव से 31 मार्च तक बंद रखने का फैसला किया है। प्रदेश के सभी आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र और क्रेच भी 31 मार्च तक बंद रहेंगे। जबकि शिक्षा बोर्ड की परीक्षाएं सुचारू रहेंगी।

मुख्यमंत्री जयराम ठाकुर ने शनिवार को हिमाचल प्रदेश विधानसभा के बजट सत्र के दौरान सदन में यह जानकारी दी। इसी के साथ सभी प्रकार की बैठकें, कार्यशालाएं इत्यादि जोकि अति आवश्यक न हों को भी 31 मार्च तक टाला जा रहा है। सीएम जयराम ने कहा कि सरकार के इस कदम को लोग सकारात्मक रूप में लें और डर का माहौल न फैलने दें।

कोरोना (कोविड-19) वायरस के डर से हिमाचल सरकार ने मेले, त्योहार और सभी तरह की खेलकूद प्रतियोगिताएं रद्द कर दी हैं। धार्मिक आयोजनों में भी भीड़ एकत्रित न होने के निर्देश जारी किए हैं। नेरचौक उपमंडल प्रशासन ने 14 से 17 मार्च तक मनाए जाने वाले जिला स्तरीय भंगरोटू मेला आयोजन से ठीक एक दिन पहले रद्द कर दिया गया है।

With coronavirus threatening to run riot in India, here's how you can keep yourself safe from the scourge.

As of now, a vaccine has not been formulated for the novel coronavirus. In light of this fact, prevention appears to be the best cure available so far.

Here are the measures you need to take to keep the virus at bay:

1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Maintain at least three feet distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
3. Stay home when you are sick.
4. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose of the tissue safely.
5. Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
6. Wearing a mask is not necessary unless you are taking care of an infected person. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) does recommend that only infected people wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus.
7. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
8. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water when hands are visibly dirty.
9. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
10. Keep in mind the travel advisory set out by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

क्या है कोरोना वायरस?

स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य मंत्रालय ने कोरोना वायरस से बचने के लिए दिशानिर्देश जारी किए हैं. इनके मुताबिक, हाथों को साबुन से धोना चाहिए. अल्‍कोहल आधारित हैंड रब का इस्‍तेमाल भी किया जा सकता है. खांसते और छीकते समय नाक और मुंह रूमाल या टिश्‍यू पेपर से ढककर रखें. जिन व्‍यक्तियों में कोल्‍ड और फ्लू के लक्षण हों उनसे दूरी बनाकर रखें. अंडे और मांस के सेवन से बचें. जंगली जानवरों के संपर्क में आने से बचें.

All you need to know about the deadly novel coronavirus

As of now, 106 people have died because of the novel coronavirus outbreak and thousands have been infected. Since it's a new strain, there is no specific vaccine that can treat it.

The Chinese government has clamped down on the central Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the deadly coronavirus that has claimed 106 lives so far and infected thousands. The reach of the virus has been reported from as far as the United States. The outbreak happened last month.

What is coronavirus?

The coronavirus is a family of viruses that can cause a range of illnesses in humans including common cold and more severe forms like SARS and MERS which are life-threatening. The virus is named after its shape which takes the form of a crown with protrusions around it and hence is known as coronavirus.

How is India responding to the outbreak?

According to the Health Ministry, 9150 passengers have been screened for the novel coronavirus. Till now, no case of novel coronavirus has been reported in India. Health ministry has asked travellers from China to report to the nearest health facility in case they do not feel well. The ministry has asked authorities at seven airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Cochin to screen those travelling from China.

Prevention

There is currently no vaccine to prevent 2019-nCoV infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.A
• Avoid touching  your, eyes nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Health Minister thanks PM for approving AIIMS at Bilaspur

Health Minister Vipin Parmar has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P Nadda for sanctioning a sum of Rs. 1,351 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakhsa Yojna (PMSSY) for setting up an AIIMS in Bilaspur.

He said getting a prestigious institute like AIIMS was a big achievement for which the people of the state were thankful to Prime Minister, who has already laid the foundation stone of the institute in Bilaspur district.

The Minister said AIIMS would prove to be a boon for quality health services within the state as people of the state so far have to visit PGIMER, Chandigarh or even New Delhi for serious diseases.

Parmar said the 750-bed AIIMS will have a medical college with an intake capacity of 100 seats and a nursing college with 60 seats. The AIIMS will have speciality and super speciality departments including trauma centres. There would also be an AYUSH department for treatment in traditional system of medicine. He added that efforts would be made to complete the construction work of AIIMS in 30 months.

He said the state government would accord priority for strengthening the health institutes by expanding the health infrastructure and filling up vacant posts of doctors. The state government has already taken a decision to fill up 100 posts of doctors, he said.

National De-worming Day to be held on 27th April

Mission Director, National Health Mission Hans Raj Sharma while presiding over meeting of officers of Medical, Ayurveda and Women and Child Development Departments at Shimla today disclosed that National De-worming Day will be held in the State on 27th April, 2017. On this day, every child in the age group 1-19 years will be administered tablets of Albendazole to free them of possible worms.

These tablets will be made available in all government schools, private schools and anganwari centres free of cost.

Bill to be introduced for opening Medical University: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that a Bill would be introduced in next Vidhan Sabha session regarding opening of Medical University in Himachal. Besides, the government had also decided to provide free medical education to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) and IRDP students.

He was  presiding over the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) here today.

On fee structure, as pointed out, students were paying fee of five years for four and a half year course, the Chief Minister said that he will examine the issue and certainly will come out with a solution to it.
The Chief Minister said Indira Gandhi Medical College had expanded vast and the second campus was coming up at Chamyana on 250  bighas of land near Bhattkuffar. He said that medical education was very important to meet the health requirement of people,  keeping in view the growing population in times to come, adding that there was  need to open more Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres in rural areas of the State to cater to the basic health needs of the rural population.
He said that this college had been started from humble beginning had developed as one of the prestigious institute of the country and expressed hope that it would grow leaps and bounds in near future. He said his passion was to promote medical education and general education, adding that we had decided to run medical colleges efficiently. The medical college at Nahan had already started functioning, and the two medical colleges in Hamirpur and Chamba would be started soon.
The Chief Minister also released a souvenir titled ‘Sushruta’ and book on Pharmacology by Dr. Joginder Pathania.
He felicitated the founding teachers of IGMC and students of first batch (1966)  of IGMC including  former principals and staff.
Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur while addressing the occasion said that this golden jubilee was a special occasion for IGMC, being the first medical college of Himachal Pradesh which had traversed a long successful journey. He said that as of today, health services and health indicators of the State were best in the country and there was always a scope of improvement and we should work dedicatedly in this direction. He said that 77000 doctors from India were giving their specialised services in USA and many such doctors had passed or served in this prestigious institution. He said that as per capita expenditure on health, the Out of Pocket Expenditure (OOPE) was Rs. 797 in the state. He said that telemedicine   services/ had been started in Keylong and other far remote areas of the state.
     
Principal IGMC, Dr. Ashok Sharma detailed about the various measures being taken for expansion of the biggest hospital of the State.
A documentary, the production of Information and Public Relations department, on the long cherished journey of 50 years of IGMC was also shown on the occasion with interviews and pictorial presentation right from the first batch of 1966 till the present day scenario.
The alumni of the IGMC, who were the special invitees, also recalled their experiences while in service.
A colourful cultural programme showcasing variant cultures of the Nation was presented by the students of IGMC including Bollywood oldies sung by the faculty regaling the audience which was also appreciated by the Chief Minister.

Transport Minister seeks air ambulances for hill states

Transport Minister GS Bali has urged the Centre to provide the air ambulance facilities for evacuation of accident victims in hilly areas so that medical aid could be provided in time.

Addressing a meeting of Group of Ministers held in New Delhi today, he said there was a need to upgrade the technology of road engineering and structuring should be designed with specific references to hill areas.

To address the issue of public transportation, the Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Ministry has constituted this group to address the issue of public transportation in hill areas and Bali is the chairman of this group.

Discussing various issues pertaining to the public transportation system and challenges prevailing in hill states, he stressed that there was a need to create awareness among the masses regarding the road safety measures.

He said focus should be given on to educate schoolchildren and NGOs and civil society groups could also play a pivotal role in this campaign. He also urged the Union Government to provide sufficient funds to make this campaign more relevant.

Bali also stressed that there was a need to strengthen road transport undertakings of hill states and the ministry should provide funds on a priority basis so that cases of accidents due to poor maintenance of vehicles could be avoided.

There was also a need to provide common platform to issue permit, particularly for Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya to facilitate the transporters and tourists as well, he added.

Complaints under PC&PNDT Act to be dealt with strictly: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur presided over a meeting of Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Test (PC & PNDT), here today. He said that the State Government has taken various initiatives to control sex determination which had resulted in major improvement in the State. The State Government has providing incentive money of Rs. 35000 to people adopting family planning after birth of one girl child and Rs. 25000 after birth of two girls child. He said that beside this various schemes had also been launched for encouragement of girl education.

The Health Minister said that surveillance of ultra sound machines in the State were being conducted but the possibility of the misuse of the machines in private clinics could also not be ignored. He said that the State Government was planning to install Active Tracking Device in these machines and in the first phase a pilot project would be started at Kangra. These tracking devices would be installed in a phased  manner in all government and private ultra sound machines in the State. The Minister instructed the senior specialist doctors to create a committee for identifying the pros and cons of these devices and to present the report within three months.

Thakur instructed all the Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers and other officers of the department for regular inspection of the ultra sound machines in their respective areas. He said that the State Government had increased the reward amount for information of practicing of female foeticide and sex determination test had been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs one lakh.
The Minister said that for operation of the ultra sound machine an eligible candidate should be deployed, having a diploma or a degree for operating these machines. He urged the officers of the department to take up the matter with Indian Medical Council regarding the same.

He said a massive awareness campaign would be launched to spread awareness regarding sex determination and female foeticide, in which participation of PRIs, NGOs and Asha workers would be ensured. He said the funds for such campaigns have already been released.

Director Health B.S. Thakur, Former MLA Krishna Mohini, CMOs of all districts, Health Safety and Regulatory officers and Non official members of the board were also present in the meeting.

A mega multi disciplinary medical camp at Rohru and Jubbal

A mega multi disciplinary camp was organized at Rohru and Jubbal in Shimla district, today by the department of Ayurveda. The camp includes the specialties of Medicine, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Eye/ENT, Homeopathy, Unani and Ksharsutra surgery. For the first time the Tibetan system of medicine Sowa Rigpa and Siddha specialty of South India had also participated in the camp.

A spokesman of the Ayurveda Department said that the camp was organized by the department under the directions and guidance of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Ayurveda Minister Karan Singh. He said that the camp was funded by the National Ayush Mission. The team of 20 doctors and paramedical staff of the department of Ayurveda was lead by Dr Dharmila Chauhan and District Ayurveda Officer Shimla. The services of Laboratory, ECG and Yoga Guidance were also provided.

He informed that the doctors had also sensitized the ASHA and Anganwadi workers along with the locals of the area. He said that today the camp was held at Samoli in Rohru where doctors examined and treated 678 patients of the area. He said that the camp would be held in Chirgaon on 21st and Chapoti kurd on 22nd and Hatkoti on 23rd March .  The surgery of the patients would be done at Civil Hospital Jubbal.

MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, Vice Chairman Zila Parishad Surender Retka and local Panchayat Pradhan Ratan Chand were also present.

63 new jaundice cases in a day in Shimla

As politics over jaundice outbreak in Shimla intensifies and cases continue to be detected, state health department has constituted six teams to take 2-3 water samples from the affected areas on a daily basis for testing. On Monday, 63 more positive cases were detected in Shimla.
Congress government led by chief minister Virbhadra Singh has come under attack for its failure to tackle the situation at an early stage. On Monday, the BJP had held a protest demonstration outside the deputy commissioner's office and accused the government of failing to control the spread of disease. On Tuesday, Shimla Nagrik Sabha also sat on dharna outside DC office alleging that the Irrigation and Public Health Department had failed to provide clean drinking water to city residents.
Shimla Nagrik Sabha president Ishwar Verma said that the contractor running the sewerage treatment plant had political patronage due to which he has gone scot-free despite playing with the lives of people by throwing sewerage waste into Ashwani Khad. "State government is doing nothing to stop the spread of jaundice," he added.
State health director Dr D S Gurung said that since January 2, they have been monitoring the situation and making all efforts to control the spread of jaundice. He said that a team headed by the joint director was formed on January 2 itself and based on the recommendation of this team, irrigation and public health department had stopped water supply from Ashwani Khad to affected areas.
Gurung said six teams have been constituted under Shimla chief medical officer. These would be collecting 2-3 samples of water from affected areas daily for testing at microbiology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital. He said 45,000 chlorine tablets have already been distributed while 2 lakh more would be distributed.

Shimla Police forms SIT to probe jaundice outbreak

Acting on the complaint of Shimla deputy mayor Tikender Panwar filed 10 days ago, the local police have formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the supply of contaminated water that has led to jaundice outbreak in the state capital.
The SIT, headed by additional superintendent of police (ASP) Sandeep Dhawal, comprises ASP Gaurav Singh, inspector PD Thakur, sub-inspector Des Raj Guleria and assistant sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh as members.
“The jaundice outbreak in Shimla is due to contaminated water, which a well-known fact. We will investigate the matter and find out the culprit,” ASP Dhawal said.
Based on the findings of the probe, names would be added in the FIR filed on Panwar’s complaint at Dhalli police station on January 6.
The case was registered under Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease danger­ous to life), 277 (fouling water of public spring or reservoir), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 43 and 44 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.
So far, Shimla MC has been blaming the state government and the contractor who was managing the sewerage treatment plant at Malyana, while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been gunning for the government and the Shimla MC.
After the outbreak of jaundice cases, the Shimla MC had constituted a five-member that in its December-29 report concluded that the Sewerage Treatment Plant at Malyana was under-utilised and not functioning properly.
On visiting the plant, Shimla mayor Sanjay Chauhan and Panwar had found sewage merging with water in Ashwani Khud. The MC eventually decided not to accept water supply from Ashwani Khud, until water safety reports came negative.
Jaundice has so far claimed three lives in the hill state capital, while leaving over 700 others sick.
