National Electoral Rolls Purification campaign till 31st August
He said that the department would identify the errors in existing electoral rolls at district and sub-division level upto 31st March, 2016. There after the purification of errors and registration of left out and eligible citizen would be done by 1st April, 2016. Besides that the names of the dead, dual registered voters and the voters who had shifted to another place, would be removed from the list.
He has appealed to the political parties, NGOs, Mahila/ Yuva Mandals and the citizens to contact designated registration camps and officers, electoral registration officer/ Assistant electoral registration officer to register the names of left out and eligible persons, removal of the names of the dead and those who had shifted to another place and also remove the names of dual registered persons so as to update the electoral rolls.

State level Voters Day on 25th January 2014
Principal Secretary, Elections and Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Narender Chauhan said that State National Voters Day would be celebrated at Gaiety Theatre Shimla on 25th January, 2014. He said that the aim of observing this Day was to enhance participation of citizens in the democratic electoral process.
Shri Chauhan was addressing a meeting here today organized for reviewing the preparations of the function. He said that the Election Commission of India has decided to celebrate 25th January its Foundation Day as the National Voters Day every year. He said that the sub theme of the National Voters Day, 2014 was ‘Ethical Voting’. Shri Chauhan said that State level and District level National Voters Day Function of district Shimla would be organized jointly at Shimla. The voters belonging to polling stations located within the radius of two kilometers of State Headquarters would be felicitated with Electors Photo Identity Cards.

Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls
He said that draft of photo voters lists would be available in all the Polling Booths, offices of Electoral Registration Officers/ Assistant Electoral Registration Officers on 1st October, 2013. He said that claims and objections if any could be filed between 1st October to 31st October ,2013 and the voters lists would be read out for verification in Gram Sabha and Local Bodies meetings on 2nd October to 20th October ,2013. He said that special campaign would be launched in all the polling booths on 6th October to 27th October, 2013. He said that claims and objections would be disposed off upto 2nd November to 14th November, 2013. Final photo electoral rolls would be published on 6th January, 2013. He said that for further information one can visit departmental website http://ceohimachal.nic.in., besides on Toll Free No. 1950.
He said that special meeting of Gram Sabhas in all Vidhan Sabha Constituencies would be held on 2nd October,2013 to make the voter lists more transparent ,besides special meetings would also be held at ward level in urban areas.
