Rain, drop in night temperature expected in northwest India during next two days

After a dry spell, the weather in the region is in for a change. With the met office forecasting light rainfall over some places along with a drop in night temperature at many places during the next couple of days.

"Light rainfall at isolated places likely over the western Himalayan region and plains of northwest India during November 26-28 and thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on November 27," a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said.

Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius over many parts of northwest India, the bulletin added.

The weather developments have been attributed to a fresh western disturbance approaching northwest India as an upper-level trough extending up to east-central Arabian Sea off the Gujarat-Maharashtra-Goa coasts during November 25-25.

Another western disturbance, though feeble, is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from November 30, according to the IMD.

Over the past 24 hours, the night temperatures in the region have largely hovered around normal, with only a minor departure at some places. In Punjab, Amritsar has been the coldest at 8.4 degree Celsius while in Haryana, Hisar has been the coldest at 9.6 degree Celsius

Light to moderate rain, snowfall likely tomorrow

The Weather Department issued a yellow alert for light to moderate snowfall on higher reaches of the state on Monday.

"We are expecting light to moderate rain and snowfall on Sunday as well. On Monday, though, there are greater chances of snowfall on higher reaches," said an official from the Weather Department.

Thunderstorm and lightning are likely on Sunday and Monday.

Currently, the temperatures in the state are normal and slightly above normal. Today, the lowest temperature was recorded at Sumdho (-1.0 degree Celsius) while Paonta Sahib logged the highest temperature at 26.0 degree Celsius yesterday.

Meanwhile, the month of November has been a little dry, recording 23 per cent deficit rainfall. As against the normal rainfall of 14.2 mm until November 24, the state has recorded just 11mm rainfall.

मौसम विभाग द्वारा जारी किए गए ताजा पूर्वानुमान के अनुसार 26 से पश्चिमी विक्षोभ सक्रिय हो रहा है। इसका असर तीन दिनों तक रहने का अनुमान है। मौसम विभाग ने 27 व 28 नवंबर को प्रदेश के किन्नौर व लाहुल स्पीति को छोड़ दस जिलों में आंधी व वर्षा को लेकर येलो अलर्ट जारी किया है।

तापमान में गिरावट 

ऐसे में प्रदेश के ऊंचे क्षेत्रों में कुछ एक स्थानों पर बर्फबारी की संभावना है जबकि निचले क्षेत्रों में वर्षा की संभावना जताई गई है। वीरवार को दिन की शुरुआत के लिए धूप के साथ हुई है। धूप खिलने के बावजूद अधिकतम तापमान में दो से तीन डिग्री तक की गिरावट आई है।

अधिकतम तापमान में सबसे अधिक गिरावट डलहौजी में तीन डिग्री, चंबा में 2.8 डिग्री शिमला में 2.6 डिग्री की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। न्यूनतम तापमान में मामूली गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। शिमला में दो डिग्री की गिरावट के बावजूद न्यूनतम तापमान सुंदरनगर व मंडी से करीब दो गुणा ज्यादा है।

हाड़ कंपाने वाली ठंड से ठिठुरा हिमाचल, बर्फ और बारिश से रास्ते ठप; माइनस से लुढ़का पारा

प्रदेश की ऊंची चोटियों बारालाचा, रोहतांग, शिंकुला, में एक फीट तक ताजा बर्फबारी हुई है। जबकि अन्य क्षेत्रों में वर्षा दर्ज की गई है। इसके कारण लाहुल स्पीति के लिए सभी रास्ते बंद हो गए हैं। अटल टनल रोहतांग के दोनों छोर में पांच इंच के करीब बर्फबारी हुई है। ऐसे में केवल फोर बाई फोर वाहन ही जा पा रहे हैं। बर्फबारी व वर्षा के कारण हाड़ कंपाने वाली ठंड पड़ रही है।

अधिकतम तापमान में पांच से 11 डिग्री तक की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। मौसम विभाग द्वारा जारी किए गए ताजा पूर्वानुमान के अनुसार दिवाली पर मौसम के साफ रहने का अनुमान है। हालांकि शनिवार को प्रदेश की ऊंची चोटियों पर एक दो स्थानों पर बर्फबारी व वर्षा की संभावना है।

प्रदेश में अधिकतम तापमान में सबसे अधिक गिरावट ऊना में 11 डिग्री, कांगड़ा में 10.2, चंबा में 9.2, सुंदरनगर में 8.8, बिलासपुर बरठीं में 7.3 व अन्य स्थानों में पांच से छह डिग्री की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। ऐसे में ठंड के अचानक बढ़ जाने से जैकेट, कोट और गर्म कपड़ों को निकालना पड़ा है।

हालांकि ऐसा पहली बार नहीं हुआ है नवंबर में अक्सर मौसम के ऐसे तेवर देखने को मिलते हैं। प्रदेश में सबसे अधिक तापमान सिरमौर के धौला कुआं में 21.9 डिग्री दर्ज किया गया है। जबकि ऊना में अधिकतम तापमान 18 डिग्री पर पहुंच गया है।

हिमाचल में बर्फबारी से बिगड़ा मौसम का मिजाज, आंधी और बिजली गिरने की आशंका, येलो अलर्ट जारी

प्रदेश की ऊचरी चोटियों पर हलक बर्फबारी व अन्य क्षेत्रों में दोपहर बाद से बादलों के छाने से ठंडक बएृ़ गई है और इसके कारण तापमान में गिरावट आई है। मौसम विभाग द्वारा जारी किए गए ताजा पूर्वानुमान के अनुसार पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के असर के कारण प्रदेश में किन्नौर व लाहुल स्पीति को छोउ बाकी जिलों में आंधी व आसमानी बिजली गिरने को लेकर येलो अलर्ट जारी किया गया है।

दोपहर बाद शिमला में छाए बादल

ऐसे में ऊंचेी चोटियों पर बर्फबारी जबकि निचले क्षेत्रों में वर्षा की संभावना जताई गई है। इन दिनों शिमला से ज्यादा सर्द रातें सोलन और सुंदरनगर में दर्ज की जा रही है। शिमला की अपेक्षा सुबह और शाम ज्यादा ठंड पड़ रही है। शिमला का न्यूनतम तापमान 9.6 डिग्री जबकि सोलन का 7.5 और सुंदरनगर का 7.6 डिग्री दर्ज किया गया है। दिन की शुरूआत खिली धूप से होने के दोपहर बाद शिमला सहित अन्य क्षेत्रों में आदल छा गए।

Rain, snow likely from tomorrow in Himachal Pradesh

Parts of Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive rain and snow from November 8 to 10 under the influence of a fresh western disturbance, the meteorological station here said on Monday. The hill state will witness dry weather on November 7, 11 and 12, it said.

There was no significant change in minimum temperatures in the state which remained marginally below normal at most places. Keylong was the coldest place in the state with the mercury settling at a low of minus 0.2deg; Celsius. Una was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 30.4deg; Celsius.

राज्य मुख्यालय के तहत आने वाले शिमला शहर में न्यूनतम तापमान ग्यारह डिग्री सेल्सियस रहा। जबकि सुंदरनगर, भुंतर, सोलन और मंडी शहरों में न्यूनतम तापमान अपेक्षाकृत कम रहा। अधिक ऊंचाई वाले स्थानों में ताजा हिमपात होने के बाद आसमान साफ होने से धूप खिलने के कारण तापमान में अपेक्षाकृत वृद्धि हुई है। प्रदेश के निचले व मध्यम ऊंचाई वाले स्थानों में तापमान में गिरावट का क्रम बना हुआ है। प्रदेश में वर्षा और हिमपात की संभावना के चलते रविवार को पूरा दिन आसमान में बादल छाए रहे। 

राज्य के किसी भी स्थान पर न तो बारिश हुई और न ही हिमपात। सोमवार को भी राज्य के अधिकांश हिस्सों में मौसम इसी प्रकार से बना रहने की संभावना है। गत रोज प्रदेश में शनिवार सुबह जनजातीय क्षेत्रों में हिमपात। रोहतांग, शिंकुला, बारालाचा, पांगी व भरमौर के ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों में बर्फ गिरी। प्रदेश के अधिकतर हिस्सों में सुबह बादल छाए थे। दोपहर को धूप निकल आई है, हल्के बादल भी हैं। बादलों के बीच मनाली-लेह सहित सभी मार्गों में वाहनों की आवाजाही जारी। ताजा हिमपात के बाद प्रदेश में ठंड बढ़ी। किन्नौर के कल्पा में न्यूनतम तापमान शून्य, लाहुल-स्पीति के केलंग में 0.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस पहुंचा। शिमला में ठंडी हवाएं चल रही हैं। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार 22 व 23 अक्टूबर को हिमपात व वर्षा का अनुमान है।

हिमाचल के कई भागों में दो दिन बारिश-बर्फबारी, केलांग में घास पर बर्फ, 25 अक्तूबर तक ऐसा रहेगा मौसम

हिमाचल प्रदेश में शुक्रवार और शनिवार को मौसम साफ रहने की संभावना है। मौसम विज्ञान केंद्र शिमला के अनुसार 22 और 23 अक्तूबर को ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों में बर्फबारी और अन्य कई क्षेत्रों में बारिश के आसार हैं। 21 अक्तूबर की रात से प्रदेश में पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के सक्रिय होने का पूर्वानुमान जताया गया है। 24 अक्तूबर से मौसम साफ बना रहेगा। गुरुवार को राजधानी शिमला सहित प्रदेशभर में हल्के बादल छाए रहने के साथ धूप खिली रही।

घास पर जमी बर्फ

हिमाचल प्रदेश में बर्फबारी से लाहौल के केलांग में न्यूनतम तापमान माइनस 0.9 डिग्री तक पहुंच गया। इससे यहां कई जगहों पर घास पर बर्फ जम गई। हालांकि हिमाचल में शुक्रवार और शनिवार को माैसम साफ रहने की संभावना है। 22 और 23 अक्तूबर को ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों में बर्फबारी और अन्य क्षेत्रों में बारिश के आसार हैं। बृहस्पतिवार को राजधानी शिमला सहित प्रदेशभर में हल्के बादल छाए रहने के साथ धूप खिली रही। 

ऊना में अधिकतम तापमान 33.0, सुंदरनगर में 27.4, भुंतर में 27.6, धर्मशाला में 26.0, नाहन में 26.1, सोलन में 25.5, कांगड़ा में 28.0, चंबा में 26.9, शिमला में 19.8 और मनाली में 18.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज हुआ। उधर, बुधवार रात को केलांग में न्यूनतम तापमान माइनस 0.9, कल्पा में 1.8, मनाली में 4.1, रिकांगपिओ में 4.9, नारकंडा में 5.3, कुफरी में 7.5, डलहौजी में 8.7 और शिमला में 9.6 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज हुआ।

पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के एकाएक सक्रिय होने से उत्तराखंड में हुई बारिश और बर्फबारी ने उत्तराखंड में सर्दी की आमद करा दी है। कुमाऊं के पहाड़ी जिलों में मौसम ठंडा हो गया है। उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्र में हुई ताजी बर्फबारी ने पर्वतीय जिलों में पारा औसतन 20 डिग्री सेल्सियस से नीचे पहुंचा दिया है। उधर हिमाचल प्रदेश के जनजातीय इलाकों और ऊंचे पर्वतीय इलाकों में मंगलवार को मध्यम बर्फबारी हुई, जबकि शिमला जिले के नारकंडा और खड़ापत्थर में इस महीने की पहली बर्फबारी हुई। इसके साथ ही जम्मू-कश्मीर के ऊंचाई वाले इलाके में बर्फबारी और मैदानी इलाकों में बारिश का सिलसिला दूसरे दिन भी जारी रहने के कारण शीतलहर की स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गई।

उत्तराखंड के पिथौरागढ़ जिले में दारमा क्षेत्र के कई माइग्रेशन गांवों और उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्र में बर्फबारी हुई है। मौसम के इस बदलाव के बाद मुनस्यारी में न्यूनतम तापमान 4 डिग्री और अधिकतम तापमान 12 डिग्री सेल्सियस पहुंच गया है। उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्र से लगे इलाकों में कई जगह अक्तूबर में 50 साल बाद 10 हजार 200 फीट तक की ऊंचाई में भी बर्फबारी ने लोगों को हैरत में डाल दिया है। सीमांत जिले के खलिया, नागनीधुरा के साथ कई अन्य जगह बर्फबारी हुई है। मुनस्यारी के पर्यटक स्थल खलिया में पारा माइनस एक डिग्री सेल्सियस तक पहुंच गया। उधर, पिथौरागढ़ शहर में सोमवार को अधिकतम तापमान 22 डिग्री दर्ज किया गया था, जो मंगलवार को 20 डिग्री पहुंच गया। यहां न्यूनतम तापमान 10 डिग्री दर्ज किया गया।

बागेश्वर जिले में सोमवार की बारिश और ओलावृष्टि के बाद ठंड बढ़ गई है। जिले के पिंडारी और मैकतोली में इस सीजन का पहला हिमपात हुआ है। घाटी वाले क्षेत्रों में कोहरा भी छाने लगा है। जिले में अधिकतम तापमान 16 डिग्री और न्यूनतम 12 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। उधर, अल्मोड़ा जिले के जागेश्वर में न्यूनतम तापमान आठ और अधिकतम 14 डिग्री सेल्सियस रहा। चम्पावत जिले में लोहाघाट स्थित एबटमाउंट जिले का सबसे ठंडा इलाका रहा। यहां अधिकतम तापमान 16 और न्यूनतम तापमान 8 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया।

सरोवरनगरी नैनीताल में सोमवार की बारिश के बाद मंगलवार को बादल छाए रहे। यहां न्यूनतम तापमान 9 डिग्री और अधिकतम 17 डिग्री होने से ठंड ने दस्तक दे दी है। कुमाऊं के मैदानी क्षेत्रों में भी पोस्ट मानसून बारिश ने मौसम में ठंडक ला दी है। भाबर क्षेत्र के हल्द्वानी में मंगलवार को न्यूनतम तापमान 17 और अधिकतम तापमान 27 डिग्री सेल्सियस रहा। तराई क्षेत्र के ऊधमसिंह नगर जिले में रुद्रपुर का अधिकतम तापमान मंगलवार को 28 और न्यूनतम तापमान 18 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया।

हिमाचल में मध्य और ऊंची पहाड़ियों पर तेज शीतलहर

हिमाचल प्रदेश के जनजातीय इलाकों और ऊंचे पर्वतीय दर्रों में मंगलवार दोपहर तीन बजे समाप्त हुई 24 घंटे की अवधि के दौरान मध्यम बर्फबारी हुई, जबकि शिमला जिले के नारकंडा और खड़ापत्थर में इस महीने की पहली बर्फबारी हुई। इससे तेज शीत लहर चली। मौसम विभाग के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि शिमला, सिरमौर, मंडी, चंबा और कुल्लू में ऊंचाई वाले आदिवासी क्षेत्रों और अन्य ऊंची पर्वत श्रृंखलाओं में शीत लहर की स्थिति देखी गई क्योंकि पारा जमाव बिंदु से तीन से पांच डिग्री नीचे रहा।

शिमला मौसम कार्यालय के निदेशक सुरिंदर पॉल ने कहा,‘उपलब्ध रिकॉर्ड के अनुसार लाहौल और स्पीति, किन्नौर, रोहतांग दर्रा, चूड़धार पर्वतमाला, जलोरी दर्रा और जोत (चंबा) में बर्फबारी हुई, जबकि शिमला जिले में नारकंडा, खड़ापत्थर और हाटू चोटी पर अक्तूबर में पहली बार बर्फबारी हुई।’

जम्मू-कश्मीर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग यातायात के लिए बंद

जम्मू-कश्मीर के रामबन जिले में भूस्खलन होने के बाद जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग मंगलवार को यातायात के लिए बंद कर दिया गया, जिससे 200 से अधिक वाहन वहां फंस गए। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि ऊंचाई वाले इलाके में बर्फबारी और जम्मू क्षेत्र के मैदानी इलाकों में बारिश का सिलसिला दूसरे दिन भी जारी रहने के कारण यहां शीतलहर की स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गई। अधिकारी ने बताया कि रास्ते की सफाई कर मलबा हटाने का काम जारी है, लेकिन भारी बारिश के कारण इसमें परेशानी हो रही है। उन्होंने बताया कि कश्मीर घाटी में शोपियां को पुंछ से जोड़ने वाली मुगल रोड लगातार दूसरे दिन बर्फबारी के कारण यातायात के लिए बंद कर दी गई है। मौसम विभाग ने कहा कि कुछ इलाकों में हल्की बारिश और बर्फबारी जारी रह सकती है।

Himachal sees mercury crossing 42 degree mark

The hills of Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather on Monday with the day temperature crossing the 42 degree mark in Una town, a weather official said. But rains and thundershowers are in store this week.

Una town was the hottest in the state with a high of 42.8 degrees Celsius.


"Temperatures remained on the higher side owing to lack of rains," an official at the meteorological office here told IANS.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, while Dharamsala was two notches above average at 32.2 degrees.

State capital Shimla was at 28.8 degrees, five notches above average. On Sunday, the day temperature in Shimla was 28.2 degrees.

The Met department said western disturbances would be active in the region with chances of rain and thundershowers across the state on May 9-10.

Himachal to witness a rainy spell

A fresh Western Disturbance has approached the hills of North India. During the last 24 to 48 hours, scattered rains have occurred over some parts. Now, we are likely to expect the intensity of rain to increase in this region. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, light to moderate rains may occur during the next 24 hours. With this system, the sky is expected to become partly cloudy and gradually the cloud cover will increase over many parts of northern hills. The plains are also expected to witness a rainy spell for the next two days.

Thereafter, the Western Disturbance is likely to shift towards East and the weather will then start clearing up from this region. Light to moderate rain and thundershower activities may continue over the hills till May 4. Thereafter, the intensity will decrease.

Himachal Pradesh witnesses marginal drop in max temp

Parts of Himachal Pradesh today experienced a dry day even as strong winds blew through the region bringing down the mercury by a few notches.

Nahan and Sundernagar recorded a high of 32.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 31.5 degrees Celsius, Solan 30 degrees Celsius, Dharmshala 29.2 degrees Celsius, Shimla 24 degrees Celsius, Manali 23 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 19.5 degrees Celsius.

Minimum temperatures also dropped by one to two notches and Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded a low of 0.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Kalpa 5 degrees Celsius, Manali 6 degrees Celsius and Bhuntar 9.4 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department here has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail at isolated places in mid and lowers hills tomorrow and the day after.

Heavy Rains, Snowfall Likely In Himachal Over Next 2 Days

Heavy rains or snowfall may occur at isolated places in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh during next two days in spite of marginal rise in maximum day temperatures across the state on Thursday.

The local MeT office also predicted rains/thundershowers at isolated places in lower hills over next three days.

The maximum temperatures which stayed three to five degree above normal yesterday, rose marginally and Una in Shivalik foothills recorded a high of 29.8 deg, 6.2 degrees above normal.

Even in state capital Shimla the maximum temperature rose by one degree from 19.2 yesterday to 20.4 degree on Thursday, in spite of clouded sky and strong winds sweeping the region.

Sundernagar, Solan, Nahan and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperatures at 27.9 degree, 26.5 degree, 26 degrees, 25.2 deg, while Dharamsala recorded a high of 18.8 degrees, followed by Manali 17.6 deg and Kalpa 15.6 degrees C.

Keylong was the coldest in the region with minimum temperature at minus 6.5 degree, while Manali and Kalpa recorded a low of zero degree and 1.0 degree, followed by Bhuntar 3.4 degree and Sundernagar 5.2 degree.

Nahan was hottest in the region during the night with a low of 12.1 degrees while Dharamsala recorded minimum temperature at 7.8 deg followed by Shimla and Una 8.2 deg C.

The state received 39.4 mm rains from January 1 to February 18, against normal rainfall of 148.8 mm, a deficit of 74 per cent.

Fresh snowfall in Shimla, adjoining areas

Fresh snowfall in in Shimla and its nearby tourist destinations on Saturday added that extra nip in the air for the tourists.

Shimla and its nearby popular destinations like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda have been experiencing snowfall, triggering a rush of tourists there.

According to the weather office here, snow and rain will continue across the state till Sunday.

Lower areas of the state, including Dharamsala, Solan, Nahan and Mandi, received moderate rainfall, bringing the temperature down considerably.

Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest town in the state with a low of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Shimla and Manali was 1.9 degrees Celsius and 1.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Kalpa, 250 km from Shimla, recorded the night temperature at minus one degree Celsius, while it was 6.4 degrees in Dharamsala.

The snowfall has cheered members of the hospitality industry as they are expecting a rise in tourist footfalls this weekend.

The Met office said the snowy landscape of Shimla will remain for one-two days.

Shimla shivers after snowfall

Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla and its nearby tourist spots shivered on Wednesday after snowfall, giving a picturesque look.
This was the season's most significant snowfall that froze the "Queen of Hills," as Shimla was fondly called by the British.
According to the Met office here, Shimla recorded 2.1 cms of snow. The mercury saw a low of minus 0.2 degree Celsius.
Other picturesque tourist resort Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw three cm snow.

However, Manali in Kullu district and Dalhousie in Chamba district remained bereft of snow.

"High-altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, Sirmaur and Shimla districts have experienced moderate snow," a Met official said.

Kalpa recorded a low of minus five degrees Celsius, while the temperature was minus 4.4 degrees Celsius in Manali, 5.4 degrees in Dharamsala and minus 0.2 degree in Dalhousie.

Traffic movement beyond Dhalli, 10 km from here, which was partially suspended on Tuesday evening as a large stretch of the road was under a blanket of snow, has been restored, officials said

Cold wave continues in Himachal

The cold wave continued to grip the hills of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday despite prevailing dry weather, with Keylong region recording the lowest temperature in the state.

"Keylong (in Lahaul-Spiti district) was coldest with a minimum temperature of minus 9.7 degrees Celsius," a Met official told IANS here.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus one degree Celsius.

The night temperature in Shimla was recorded at 4.8 degrees Celsius, while it was 5.8 degrees in Dharamsala, minus 2.6 degrees in tourist resort Manali and six degrees in Dalhousie.

According to the Met office, dry weather would prevail in the state till Monday.
