CM announces Rs. 2 crore for fire victims of Kotla village

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today visited the Kotla village in Banjar assembly segment of district Kullu which was razed to the ground due to devastating fire on late Sunday night. He met the affected families who lost everything in the fire and announced a sum of rupees two crore for construction of houses. This amount also includes Rs. 50 lakh for renovation of the temples of the local deities.  He assured of all possible assistance in the future as well and exhorted the people to renovate the temples in the ancient hill architecture.

Virbhadra Singh said he was deeply pained over the incident as large number of families had gone homeless.  The government would leave no stone unturned to rehabilitate them and the sufferers would also be given adequate relief as per the relief manual, besides other things of daily use. The people of the State were with them in this hour of grief and if need be, additional financial assistance would be provided to re-built the houses, he said.

The Chief Minister said proper mechanism would be followed for laying water pipes, sewerage, electric poles and other facilities in Kotla village. He advised the people not to construct the houses wall to wall and also not to keep the fodder in the houses which acts as fuel during fire incidents. He also appealed them to voluntarily give land for construction of roads. He said that the link road to the village would be maintained by the public works department.

He said there was no dearth of funds and the necessary assistance apart from the money announced would be provided as per need to give much needed relief to the people by the State Government. The Chief Minister also appealed to the NGO’s to come forward in this hour of grief and extend all possible help to the villagers.

He also listened to the grievances of the people at Kotla.

Co-operative and Ayurveda Minister Karan Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kanwar were also present on the occasion amongst others.

Rs. One lakh Contributed towards C.M. Relief Fund

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was presented a cheque of Rs. One lakh as contribution towards C.M. Relief Fund by Principal, Jesus& Mary School, Shimla on behalf of teachers, staff and students, here today. 

Chief Minister thanked for the contribution and said that it would help in providing succour to the poor and needy people in the State.

Rs. 32,111 Contributed towards C.M. Relief Fund


Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was presented a cheque of Rs. Eleven thousand One hundred and Eleven ( Rs.11,111) towards C.M. Relief Fund by Social Justice & Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil on behalf of Dhian Chand Hockey Society, Kandaghat, district Solan here today.

Another cheque of Rs. Twenty-one thousand was presented to Chief Minister towards CM Relief Fund by Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Chief Organiser HP Congress Seva Dal Shri Inder Dutt Lakhanpal on behalf of L.T.V Operator Union Kunihar district Solan. LTV Operator Union President Shri Des Raj, Vice President Shri Dinesh Thakur, Secretary Shri Duni Chand, Cashier Shri Hardev and Organiser Congress Seva Dal District Shimla Shri Arjun Singh Gosain and other office bearers were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister thanked them for the contributions and said that it would help in providing relief to the poor and needy people of the State. 

Rs. 65,000 Contributed towards C.M. Relief Fund

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was presented a cheque of Rs. Sixty-five thousand towards C.M. Relief Fund by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Nand Lal and President Citizen Rampur Smt. Indu Verma on behalf of Rampur Block Mahilla Congress here today. 

Former Member Zila Parishad Rampur Smt. Sarojini Thakur, President Congress Mahila Mandal Rampur Smt. Satya Bhushan, Councillor Municipal Corporation smt. Seema Gupta, former Councillor Smt. Meena Devi were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister thanked them for the contributions and said that it would help in providing relief to the poor and needy people of the State.

After excessive rains in Himachal Pradesh for almost two weeks, people in most parts of the state today got some relief from the showers with a slight rise experienced in humidity and day temperatures.

Himachal minister donates salary
