Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who was addressing a massive public meeting at Ronhat in remote Laadhi area of Shillai constituency of Sirmour district today, announced a degree college to be opened at Ronhat. This was the second announcement of opening of a college in a row during last two day visit of the Chief Minister in the district, the first being announced to be opened at Dadahu. With this announcement, the total number of colleges in Sirmour has gone upto twelve.
The college will benefit the students of 12 Panchayats of the area besides from six to eight panchayats of Kupvi sub tehsil in Shimla district. He exhorted the people to donate the land for the college voluntarily.
He announced starting of Economics, Science, and Commerce classes in Government Senior Secondary School, Panog and construction of PWD Inspection Hut in Panog.
The Chief Minister announced an Industrial Training Institute to be opened at Dharti-Dhar in Renuka Assembly Constituency. The other announcements for Renuka assembly segment include Sub Divional Police office (SDPO) to be opened at Sangrah, Sub-Employment exchange at Nohradhar and PWD rest house at Jadol-Taproli. He announced dismantling of dilapidated building of Government Senior Secondary School, Nanidhar and construction of a new building.
He dedicated a number of irrigation and drinking water supply schemes in the area today besides laying foundation of many others. He said that 2439 habitations were being provided both drinking and irrigation facilities in the district and 56 more habitations would be provided drinking water for which a sum of Rs 5.18 crore was being spent. Apart from this work on 985 drinking water schemes have been completed in the entire district out of which 720 were flow water supply schemes and 262 lift water supply schemes. As many as 3093 hand pumps have been installed in the district including Shillai area.
Virbhadra Singh said that an area of 14598 hectare had been brought under irrigation. A target of providing irrigational facilities to as much 75 hectare of land would be completed in 2017-18 in the district. All the habitations in Nohradhar IPH division had been provided with drinking water facilities.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Vinay Kumar thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring overall development of Sirmour district and dedicating various developmental projects in Renukaji and Shillai Assembly Segments during his two day visit to the district.
Vice-Chairman State Planning Board Gangu Ram Musafir also addressed the occasion. He also blamed the NITI Ayog for ignoring the special status of the hill states adding that the state suffered a loss of Rs 2677 crore as a result of withdrawal of special central grant for development to Himachal Pradesh.
He lambasted the NDA for false promises that around two crore unemployed would be provided employment in the area, but the truth was that it was all a political propaganda to get votes.
Chairman Zila Parishad Dilip Chauhan welcomed the Chief Minister and placed the demands of the area.
DCC President Ajay Solanki, BCC President Sita Ram Sharma, Member, BoD State Co-operative Bank Bharat Bhushan were also present on the occasion amongst others.
