Himachal: Rajbhawan makes an unconventional beginning, ‘At Home’ no longer a ‘cup of tea’ only

At his first Republic Day function on Tuesday, Governor Acharya Dev Vrat chose to follow an unconventional way to host 'At Home' - an annual ritual, leaving many dignitaries, including state's six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh amused at the Raj Bhawan. A former Gurukul principal at Kurushetra –who also has a backround of Arya Samaj - Dev Vrat seems to be keen on changing the way Raj Bhawan functions in the state. Aside from delivering a 25-minute speech on the freedom movement to highlight the role of an Indian revolutionary figure called Ram Prasad Bismil, Dev Vrat had also invited artists from the government's Public Relations Department to recite patriotic songs for 35 minutes, before he arrived at the scene, and the national anthem was played.
