Lack of civic sense

A massive cleanliness drive was undertaken by the authorities in and around Parwanoo and also along the railway line in a bid to instil a sense of cleanliness among people. It was, however, appalling to note that an area near the Taksal railway station has become a dumping ground. Such callous behaviour of residents is lamentable as it is the duty of every individual to ensure that they do not litter in the open and mere punitive action by the authorities will not suffice. Keeping the surroundings clean is everyonersquo;s responsibility. Madan Kumar, Parwanoo

Damaged road curve turns into death trap

The damaged curve on the road linking housing board colony with upper Chogan road in Nurpur town has turned into a death trap. Neither the Municipal Council nor the Public Works Department has noticed and repaired it so far. During night, this blind damaged curve becomes a nightmare, especially those riding two wheelers. This road also leads to Chinva village and remains busy with traffic and pedestrians. The authorities should immediately repair it to avert any mishap. Parveen Kumar, Nurpur
