IGMC cardiologist awarded

A paper on ldquo;No re-flow phenomenon in patients undergoing percutaneous cardiac intervention (PCI): factors responsible and outcomesrdquo; by assistant professor in cardiology, IGMC, Dr Shivani Rao won the CSI Travel Award-2019 (national award) during a conference of the Cardiology Society of India in New Delhi recently. As many as 6,000 persons attended the conference. She is the youngest cardiologist to win the award. She also received a gold medal for the same paper last month. The study emphasises the importance of more precise management of underlying diseases in order to prevent the incidence of these conditions and cardiovascular complications and may contribute to developing a better understanding regarding the demographic, risk factor, angiographic profile and outcome of patients having no re-flow phenomenon.

ABVP wants LLM seats subsidised

The ABVP unit of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has demanded that all seats in the LLM be subsidised. A delegation of the ABVP met Dean, Studies, Arvind Kalia to press for their demand and also submitted a memorandum to the chairman of the law department. ABVP leader Munish Verma said out of the increased seats, only 15 were subsidised, while for others, the fee was high.

He threatened that in case the administration did not accede to their demand, the ABVP would launch an agitation.

NSUI appoints office-bearers

The state president of the NSUI, Chattar Singh, appointed district presidents for Shimla and Solan. Yogesh Thakur was appointed the president of Shimla and Tushar Sthan chief of Solan. He said office-bearers to the two district units and heads of college units would be appointed shortly.
