Chandigarh: Punjab NRI panel head orders probe into club functioning, experts say conflict of interest

IN A clear case of conflict of interest, the Punjab NRI Commission chairman has ordered a probe into the functioning of Chandigarh Club, whose membership he has, on the complaint from another member. Justice (retd) Rakesh Kumar Garg, who is a senior citizen member of the club, on April 7 ordered the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Punjab, to probe allegations of discrepancies, irregularities and malpractices at the club while hearing a complaint filed by a Zirakpur resident, Sunil Chopra. RoC, Punjab, has jurisdiction over companies registered in Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh.
