Cabinet meeting: Solar mission gets Rs 5,000 cr boost

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Wednesday approved scaling up of the budget for implementing Grid Connected Rooftop systems up to 2019-20 under National Solar Mission (NSM) from Rs 600 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. The move is aimed at supporting installation of 4200 MW Solar Rooftop systems over the next five years. A capital subsidy of 30 per cent will be provided for general category states and UTs and 70 per cent for special category states like Northeastern States including Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
