After the successful execution of the 3-day anti-cannabis campaign in Kullu district last month, the district police have destroyed cultivated weed on 416 bighas within the first three days of the 15-day drive which commenced from September 1.
Kullu SP Puran Chand said cannabis on 150 bighas was destroyed by five separate teams on the first day of the campaign from Malana, Naggar, Manikaran, Sainj and Banjar regions of this district. He stated that cannabis was destroyed from another 170 bighas of land at Malander Thach, Malana, Fozal, the Parbati valley and Sainj on the second day of the campaign, while 96 bighas were vacated today. He added that strict legal action would be taken against the persons involved in the cannabis cultivation.
The government has made it mandatory for officials of the forest, revenue and Public Works Department to ensure that there is no such cultivation on the land falling under their authority, failing which action would be taken against them.
