Second Manohar Singh Memorial Theatre Festival is being organised by H.P. Language and Culture department in collaboration with National School of Drama from 29 April, 2015 at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. Entry passes will be available from 23rd April from 11 A.M till 7 P.M. at Gaiety Theatre.
During the five day-long festival, the plays of few Directors of national repute will be staged. The Theatre Festival will kick off with presentation of ‘Chanakya’ play by Manoj Joshi Creations of Mumbai. On 26 April, the play ‘Ghazab Teri Adaa’ directed by Vaman Kendre of National Theatre School will be staged whereas on 27 April the play of Ganesh C. Shive ‘Tamasha avam Lavani Nrtiya’ and on 28 April, Manipuri play ‘Bachai’ directed by Thawai Thiam will be presented. On the concluding day, the play ‘Koi Baat Chale’ directed by Ramji Bali will be staged.
The department started to organise this festival from last year in which noted Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah had staged his play ‘Ismat Aapa Ke Naam’. The renowned Director Rattan Thiyam had also presented his play ‘When we died awaken’. Besides, the department had also organised music and dance festivals which were well appreciated by the art lovers and the tourists.
