Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will be presenting his 18th budget in Himachal Vidhan Sabha on March 18. It will be a tightrope walk for Chief Minister to please all sections as the last year's budget had Rs. 2,372 crore deficit.
Himachal spent nearly 65% of its budget on salaries and pensions of government employees in addition to interest and loan repayments thus leaving very little for the developmental works. It remains to be seen how Chief Minister generates additional resources this year as he had presented tax free budget for 2014-15. It remains to be seen whether budget fulfils aspirations of people besides giving push to state's economy.
