Vipin Singh Parmar, Health Minister, today said that the state government had spent over Rs 100 crore under the Himcare health scheme. Till date over one lakh patients had undergone major and small surgeries in different hospitals of the state under the scheme.
He said that every resident of the state was eligible for a medical cover up to Rs 3 lakh without any income criteria under the scheme. Parmar presided over a function organised by a local de-addiction centre at Thakurdwara, near here.
The minister said that the government was committed to providing the best possible health services to people. For the first time, heart patients were also benefited as they underwent angiography and angioplasty in the state hospitals, he added.
Parmar said that if needed, more de-addiction centres would be opened keeping in view challenges faced because of drug abuse spoiling the lives of youths. He appreciated the private sector for opening de-addiction centres in the state.
He said that after Delhi, Himachal was the second state where all medical tests were being done free of cost. Besides, over 400 medicines were also being provided in empanelled hospitals free of cost and the state had already allocated Rs 50 crore for the supply of medicines under the programme, he added.
The minister said that the government was committed to providing social security to every citizen of the state. In the next financial year, 350 new doctors would be employed.
He said that the government was working on a plan to convert all primary health centres ito lsquo;health wellness centersrsquo;. These centres would be equipped with qualified doctors and nursing staff. He had asked Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to allocate Rs 1,150 crore to the state at the earliest for the completion of different health projects.
