Traffic cops give norms go-by

The biggest problem faced by locals as well as tourists in Shimla is parking and hundreds of challans are issued daily by the traffic police for idle and wrong parking. However, when it comes to their own vehicles, police personnel do not follow any such rules. Be it vehicles of senior police officials or lower-rung personnel, they can park anywhere. A perfect example of this can be seen outside the New Shimla police station. There is constant traffic jam at the chowk but one can see four to five vehicles of police personnel parked right outside on the road. When it comes to police, the officials don't follow yellow or white line parking rule. The police have two sets of rules, one for themselves and another for commoners. Poor garbage collection

Cleanliness drive in the town has become a new nuisance due to erratic garbage collection system. Started by the Municipal Committee a few months ago, the drive seems to be changing the situation from bad to worse. Those supposed to collect the waste before 9 am are now collecting it till 2 pm. They are least bothered to even cover the stinking garbage that litters roads as the garbage-collecting trolleys are open. The situation is poor even in front of the District Collectorate. Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
