Bengal man held for online bank fraud

The Kullu police have arrested a person from West Bengal in a forgery case. The accused had transferred around Rs 4 lakh from the bank account of a victim in Kullu district by asking OTP on the phone from her son.

According to the police, the accused had transferred the amount in four fake paytm accounts and bought e-gift vouchers of Rs 3,96,000. During investigation, it was found that the accused had used gift vouchers in Jharkhand and West Bengal for purchasing.

SP, Kullu, Gaurav Singh said the accused had bought silver coin, 2 mobile phones, TV and a few daily use products. The accused has been identified as Sarvan Kumar.

The SP said the accused had been taken on transit remand for five days. Three accused had been arrested from Jharkhand. — TNS
