The mountain ranges of Manimahesh in Bharmour tribal area and the Saach pass in the Pangi tribal valley have been experiencing fresh snowfall for the past 24 hours, reports reaching the district headquarters said today. There is a sharp downfall in the temperature in the lower areas of the district.
The reports say that the low-lying areas had been having torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorm, thereby disrupting transportation services due to triggering of landslides on the roads at various places. The volume of water in the Ravi and its tributaries has also increased.
The rain cheered the farmers in the high-altitude areas as it is stated to be useful for the pea crops and cultivation of other vegetables.
Meanwhile, an official spokesperson informed that five houses had been partly damaged at different villages of the district, adding that a damage of around Rs 28 lakh had been caused to roads.
