House gutted in Kangra village

Property worth Rs 5 lakh was gutted at Badiyara village in Gaggal this afternoon.

Mehar Deen, SHO, said the fire broke out in the house of Swaroop Singh when the family members were sitting outside the house. Some passerby raised the alarm.

The locals reached the spot and attempted to extinguish it but the fire engulfed the building, leaving the household and other goods destroyed.

By the time, two fire brigades from of Kangra and Dharmsala reached the spot, the damage was already done.

The SHO said the cause of the fire was said to the short-circuit. Swroop Singh, an employee in post office, said golden ornaments, clothes, fridge, television and other household goods worth Rs 5 lakh were damaged. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
