5 trains resume on J’nagar track today

The railway authorities today decided to resume five up and down trains on the Pathankot-Jogindernagar heritage narrow gauge railway line in the Kangra valley from tomorrow after a gap of five months.

Rajesh Kumar Aggrawal, Divisional Manager, Railways, Firozepur Division, said this while addressing a press conference at the Jwalamukhi road railway station today. Trains were running partially since July 31 due to breaches between Jwalamukhi Road-Kopar Lahar and Baijnath Paprola-Jogindernagar sections.

The obstructions on the route have been removed on the narrow gauge section and trains will resume tomorrow. Two pairs of passenger trains will chug between Pathankot and Baijnath, one pair between Pathankot and Joginder Nagar and one between Pathankot and Jwalamukhi road. One express trainwill start from pathankot to Baijnath. Services of the remaining two pairs of passenger trains will be started by Republic Day.

The official said of the 15 bridges on the track, three big bridges and eight small bridges had been renovated and the remaining bridges would be ready by March.
