Rains, Thunderstorm Lash Himachal, Mercury Plummets

Moderate rains and thunderstorms lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh today pulling the mercury down by several notches in the region.
The minimum and maximum temperatures dropped by five to 12 degree Celsius as intermittent rains accompanied by strong winds lashed the region.

The day temperature dropped to 28 degree from 40 degree but later recovered to 34 degree. Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a high of 23.8 degree and 18.2 degree against 32.6 degree and 31.5 degree yesterday.

The maximum temperature dropped from 23.6 degree to 17.2 degree in Kalpa while Shimla and Solan recorded a high of 22. 4 degree and 25.4 degree against 26.3 degree and 32.2 degree yesterday.

Jhanduuta was wettest in the region with 26 mm rains while Una and Jubbarhatti recorded 24 mm rains, followed by Dalhousie 15 mm, Palampur 14 mm, Dharampur, Baijnath and Dharamshala 13 mm, Bilaspur, Mehre, and Kangra 11 mm, Arki, Baldwara, Guler, Sujanpur Tira and Nadaun 10 mm, Bangana and Manali 9 mm, Shimla 7.2 mm and Bhuntar 6.8 mm.

The minimum temperatures also dropped by few notches and Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district recorded a low of 7.9 degree, followed by Kalpa and Manali 9.0 degree, Shimla 13.0 degree, Palampur 15 degree, Dharamsala 15.8 degree, Nahan 18.7 degree and Sundernagar 19.1 degree C.

The local MeT office has predicted more rains and thunderstorm in the region over next four days.
