Training program for engineers to ensure structural safety

A two day State level training program for engineers on strengthening of techno-legal regime to ensure structural safety will be organized on 10th and 12th October, 2015 at Shimla under the banner of ‘SAMARTH-2015’.This was revealed by D.D. Sharma, Special Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management.

He said that Special drive of disaster management was being organized from 1st to 13th October, 2015 for sensitizing and capacity building among masses in the State under which various programmes, workshops, rallies, events etc. were being organized during two weeks State level campaign.

Sharma said that Director, IIT Jodhpur Prof. C.V.R. Murty and experts from IIT Madras would deliver key note address during training program for engineers. He said that a State level orientation workshop for sendai framework (2015-2030) on disaster risk reduction for administrative secretaries, head of departments and deputy commissioners would be also organized on 12 October at Shimla.

He said that Chief Minister would flag off Citizen's Solidarity March for disaster risk reduction from the Ridge, Shimla on 13th October between 8 am to 10 am. He said that valedictory ceremony of Samarth 2015 at State level would be organized at Gaiety Theatre on 13th October.

He informed that due to some administrative reasons, the Mock exercise which was scheduled to be executed on 12 October 2015 at H.P. Secretariat, State Police Headquarter and Central School for Tibetans by the State Disaster Management Authority with the support of stakeholders, line departments besides Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force and ITBP etc. has been postponed.  He said that this Mock exercise would be organized in November, 2015.
