Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on the occasion of All India Pensioners Day function organized by H.P. Pensioners Welfare Association today at Peterhoff accepted the long standing demand of pensioners of the State for hike of 5 per cent -10 per cent-15 percent in basic pension after attaining age of 65 years, 70 years and 75 years respectively from next financial year. This would put an extra burden of about Rs. 100 crore on the State exchequer.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that the State Government had always been committed for welfare of its employees and pensioners. He said that the Government during its present tenure had provided financial benefits worth Rs. 2454.88 crore to its employees. He said that financial benefits worth Rs. 970 crore had been provided to the pensioners during the present tenure of the State Government.
Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government had always maintained cordial relations with its employees and pensioners as they were instrumental in effective implementation of policies and programmes of the State Government. He said that it was during his tenure that the JCC of Pensioners was constituted in the State to look into their grievances and their redressal.
He said that the pensioners of the State had given prime of their lives for the State and had played pivotal role in making Himachal Pradesh the model State of the Country.
Chief Minister said that the State Government during its present tenure has ensured that fruits of the developmental activities and welfare schemes reached to the people living at the lowest ebb.
Chief Minister also honoured senior citizen and pensioner Smt. Tara Gupta, 90 years along-with other pensioners on the occasion.
Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said force of entire pensioners was behind the Chief Minister and the Government will repeat with their cooperation in the next Vidhan Sabha general election.
He said that the State Government under the dynamic and able leadership of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had ensured speedy development of the State. He said every section of the society had been benefitted by the welfare policies and programmes of the State Government.
President, Pensioners Welfare Association H.R. Vashisht while welcoming the Chief Minister apprised him about various demands of the Association.
Atma Ram Sharma, District Shimla President welcomed the Chief Minister.
Hari Chand Gupta, Secretary General presented the vote of thanks and conducted the proceedings.
