Over 4000 jaundice patients in Shimla, CM plays down reports
In the past one month, local residents - ranging from citizens to highly-placed bureaucrats, doctors, IT professional and students - are grappling with the outbreak of jaundice in Shimla. Shimla Municipal Corporation, which handles water distribution in the town, have stopped taking supply from Ashwani Khad and served a notice to the IPH department for its criminal negligence and apathy since the sewage mixed untreated dirty water was being supplied from the source. The Malyana site –where the water treatment plant is located is itself a tell-tale story of complete callousness of the agencies including IPH, Pollution Control Board, the health department and Urban development agencies.
