Work on Baddi rail line may begin soon: Agnihotri

Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said member traffic from the Ministry of Railways would visit Shimla on June 6 to chalk out the modalities of connecting the state’s industrial hub of Baddi with rail network.
Interacting with the investors in Baddi last evening, he said an agreement had already been signed between the state government and the Ministry of Railways and further modalities of laying a rail line connecting Baddi would be worked out soon.
He said laying of this rail line would help investors, who were forced to bear the brunt of high cost of transportation by roads.
He said a special cell had been created to oversee land acquisition for four-laning of the Pinjore-Swarghat national highway for Rs 86 crore had been approved.
The minister while giving details of various facilitative measures taken to ease the industry post central industrial package said the state government was keen to ensure prevalence of an industry-friendly ambience, where investment could be promoted.
He said after receiving encouraging results from the first investor meet, where investment worth Rs 5,000 crore was slated to be received, the second meet would soon take place in Delhi.
