Wet spell continues in state

Several areas were lashed by moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorm during the past 24 hours. Jogindernagar in Mandi district was the wettest in the area with 49 mm rain while Kasauli and Renuka received 29 mm and 25 mm rain, followed by Hamirpur 16 mm, Gaggal, Baijnath and Manali 13 mm, Jubbal 12 mm, Paonta Sahib and Kahu 11 mm, Sunni Bajji 9 mm, Seobagh, Jhanjehli, Sundernagar and Solan 8 mm and Rohru 7 mm.
Shimla and surrounding areas were lashed by heavy showers accompanied by strong winds and the sky remained overcast, causing a sharp fall in the day temperature.

There was no appreciable change in minimum temperatures and Keylong was the coldest at night with a low of 6.9°C followed by Manali 7°C, Kalpa 7.8°C, Dalhousie 14.5°C, Shimla 13.3°C, Bhuntar 13.4°C, Solan and Chamba 14°C, Sundernagar 15.2°C, Hamirpur 16°C, Dharamsala 16.2°C, Nahan and Una 16.3°C, Mandi 16.5°C, Kangra 16.6°C and Bilaspur°C.

Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 35.4°C followed by Nahan 30.7°C, Sundernagar 28.5°C, Dharamsala 27.8°C, Solan 27.5°C, Bhuntar 22.8°C, Shimla 22.5°C, Manali 15.4°C and Kalpa 14.2°C.

The local Met Department has predicted rain and thundershowers in low and mid hills and rain and snow accompanied by thundershowers in high hills in the next 24 hours.
