Chief Minister Mr Virbhadra Singh while speaking on the occasion of closing ceremony of the district level Seepur fair near Mashobra in Kasumpati constituency stressed the need for preserving the rich traditional customs and culture. He said that the lives of the people of the State revolve around the local deities and they had supreme faith in them.
He said that the Seepur fair also found mention in various books of foreign authors and the ambience of the place had been highly appreciated by them.
The Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh was known for maintaining its ancient culture and it should be further preserved at all cost for the future generations.
The Government was committed to provide quality education, and basic needs as water, electricity and road connectivity for the remotest areas of the State, he added.
He said that Congress Party believes in secularism and India was a home to many religions where all were staying harmoniously but there were few people who play divisive politics. He urged the people to be aware of such anti-social elements and not to get swayed by their ulterior motives.
The Chief Minister announced to upgrade Primary Health centre, Mashobra and veterinary dispensary at Kanola and metalling of road from Seepur to Mashobra. He assured to include the road from Craignano to Gumma via Darbala under NABARD. He also announced ten lakh for Sarai bhawan at Mashobra and Rs 10 lakh for grading and packaging house at Mashobra.
Mr Virbhadra Singh announced rupees five thousand each for school children who presented cultural programme on the occasion and Rs 10,000 to artist Daleep Sirmauri and the traditional Thoda dance group.
The Chief Minister also distributed the prizes to winners of various competitions and sports events held on the occasion.
He also released a souvenir and visited the exhibitions set up by the various departments.
Later, Chief Minister dedicated the Himachal Pradesh Gramin Bank branch at Sandhu near Theog.
Earlier Local MLA, Mr Anirudh Singh welcomed the Chief Minister and placed the demands of the area.
President Shimla Rural Congress, Mr Kehar Singh Khachi also spoke on the occasion.
Pradhan GP Mashobra, Mr Om Prakash tabled the demands of the area.
SDM(Rural) and Chairman Mela Committee, Seepur Mr Gian Sagar Negi detailed about the historical importance of the fair.
President Kasumpati Block Congress Committee, Mr Bhupinder Kanwar, Chairperson, Shimla Block Mahila Congress, Ms. Anita Sharma, Member, BoD, HPSIDC, Mr Pramod Kumar, Councillor, Chamiana, Mr Narinder Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Mr Dinesh Malhotra, SP, Shimla, Mr D.W. Negi were also present on the occasion amongst senior officers of the district.
