Kangra, January 3
The Kangra police arrested 16 persons, including a woman, during the last 48 hours for indulging in illicit liquor trade in the district and nabbed a person in the town and recovered charas from his possession.
Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kangra, today said the police raided 16 places falling under seven police stations in the district and seized 93,000 ml of illicit liquor and 20,250 ml of country liquor. He said they were arrested under different sections of the Excise and Taxation Act. He said Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Donga Bazaar, was arrested by the police near Government Senior Secondary School, Kangra, and 50.49 gm of charas was recovered from his possession. He was arrested under Sections 20, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
