Taking strong objection to Oxytocin, a lethal vaccine being excessively used by the farmers for ripening fruits, vegetables and milching animals, the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday framed a set of guidelines for the state government to check its illegal use which is threatening the health of the consumers. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan directed the government to frame an efficient Drug Regulatory System, both at the Centre and the state level for better co-ordination and handling of the entire problem so as to regulate the manufacture, import and distribution of drugs like Oxytocin. The state government was asked to make available adequate testing facilities of Oxytocin at its Kandaghat laboratory within a period of three months.
