The Chief Minister earlier inaugurated additional accommodation of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Gummer completed with an outlay of Rs. 95.36 lakh, inaugurated newly constructed building of GSSS Kutiyara, completed with a cost of Rs. 66 lakh and building of Sanskrit college from the budget to be utilised from temple trust Shree Jawalamukhi completed with an outlay of Rs. 1.68 crore.
He also laid foundation stones of Sale Book Depot-cum-Teachers Holiday Home at Jawalamukhi to cost Rs.3.27 crore, Matri Sadan to cost Rs. 1.35 crore, additional accommodation of GSSS Gummer to cost Rs 1.57 crore and improvement of lift water supply scheme (LWSS) Chokaath-Bhatoli to cost Rs 5 crore, which will facilitate a population of 8000 of 13 villages and 83 habitations of Jawalamukhi constituency.
Mr Virbhadra Singh also launched Information Communication and Technology (ICT) project at GSSS (G) Jawalamukhi.
While addressing gathering at Kutiyara, the Chief Minister directed for opening a library in GSSS, Kutiyara and directed the Deputy Commissioner to release the sanctioned funds for construction of ‘Kewat Bhawan’ for Boatmen at Kutiyara. He also asked the local MLA for submitting a proposal regarding construction of additional block for starting science classes in Kutiyara GSSS.
“In the present era of scientific revolution and technology, I want that every school should have science classes and science labs which will help children know more about the scientific world and the government was providing basic facilities in the field of science, technology and vocational education to the children of the State”, he said.
He said that the government schools were catering far better and quality education to the students. The state has progressed in the field of education and there were as many as 15534 schools in the state in government sector alone besides 94 colleges. He said Himachal was on second position in literacy percentage in the country after Kerela.
“I want that the standard of education for poor children should be equal to those children of well off families and our government schools have already made a headway in this direction”, he said.
The Chief Minister said teachers should work hard for upgrading the standard of education by guiding students in information, communication and latest technology. “The state has witnessed quantum jump in the field of education and the need of the hour is to rationalise the schools and strengthen them with infrastructure and all modern facilities”, he added.
He said the state government was endeavouring to provide technical education to the children. Besides, to enhance the skills of the youth, the government had started Rs 500 crore Skill Development Allowance scheme so that the unemployed youth of the state could find jobs not only in private sector but in government sector too and the government was providing skill development allowance of Rs. 1000 per month to them.
He said that as far as the welfare of the poor people was concerned, the State government had enhanced the social security pension from Rs 450 to Rs 600 per month and pension of those above 80 years of age from Rs 1000 to Rs. 1100 per month. At present the government was providing pension to as many as three lakh four thousand 921 people irrespective of the income bar.
Not only this, to rehabilitate the landless, the state government was providing two Biswas of land in urban area and three Biswas of land in rural areas to such landless people for earning their livelihood. He said that I want to see Himachal progress in leap and bounds and an example for other states in field of development. I want to see that every village develop and every citizen prospered, and to the efforts of the successive governments the state has become a model of developed hill state, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr Neeraj Bharti, exhorted the officers and the people concerned to educate their children in government schools and said that the standard of education in government schools was far better than in other many private schools. “ I have myself decided to send my daughter in government school and to make a beginning with, I am sending my daughter who is studying at Tara Hall, Shimla to government school to get accustomed to the ‘Sarkari education’ and the environment therein”, he said.
MLA, Sanjay Rattan thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating and laying foundation stones of projects worth crores. Sh. Rattan also detailed about the ongoing development works in his assembly segment besides the development undertaken in Dehra and Garli Pragpur. He demanded sub-employment exchange for Jawalamukhi besides other demands including block primary education office. He lashed out at BJP for ignoring the interest of people of Dehra and said that the BJP leaders had lost all rights to criticise Congress on issue of development in Dehra as all the important offices of the state government were housed at Dehra.
Project Director, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, Mr Jagdish Chand said that as many as 50000 children were undertaking vocational education in almost 500 schools of the state. He also detailed about the exhibition set up by the education department in the premises of GSSS (G) Jawalamukhi
Chairman, APMC, Hamirpur, Mr Prem Kaushal, Vice-Chairman HP State Freedom Fighters Welfare Board, Pandit Sushil Rattan, Brigadier Rajinder Rana from Dehra, Chairman, HP Education Board, Mr Balbir Tegta, President Block Congress Committee, Mr Dharminder Sharma, Chairperson, Nagar Parishad, Jawalamukhi, Smt. Bhawna Sood, representatives of various nearby panchayats of the area were also present on the occasion amongst others.
