A British girl died during trekking in the Solang Nullah region in Manali here yesterday.
Kullu police spokesperson DSP Sanjay Sharma said Niamh Lindsay Campbell (19) had gone on a trekking expedition with her friends at the Dhundhi peak in the Solang region. He said her friends had told the police that she felt a pain in her stomach and collapsed. They took her to Mission Hospital in Manali, but doctors declared her brought dead.
The DSP said the victim was a student of the Sharon Educational Charitable Trust in Bangalore and had come to Manali with her five friends.
He confirmed that a case under Section 174 had been registered and further investigation was on.
The body had been sent to the Tanda medical college in Kangra for a postmortem. The relatives of the victim had been informed through the Embassy concerned, the DSP added.
