A spokesman of Government of Himachal Pradesh said here today that Central Government aided three Social Security Schemes would be launched by Prime Minister on 9th May, 2015 at Kolkata. The Schemes will be simultaneously launched in all states including Himachal Pradesh. He said that the State Level launch function will be presided over by the Chief Minister Mr Virbhadra Singh.
He said that the state level launching function is being organised by the UCO Bank and Convener, SLBC in the conference hall, Armsdale building, HP Secretariat on 9th May, 2015 at 5.30pm. These schemes include Atal Pension Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jiwan Jyoti Bima Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna.
The Government of India, in the year 2010, had launched a Contributory Pension Scheme called ‘Swavalamban Scheme’ for the persons belonging to unorganized sector. Now this scheme has been re-named as ‘ Atal Pension Yojna’. Under this scheme, any person working in the unorganized sector could contribute Rs. 1000 to Rs. 12000 per annum to earn pension after completing 60 years age. Chief Minister had announced in his budget speech to adopt this scheme for Himachal Pradesh so that the MGNREGA workers, Agricultural and Horticultural labourers, Shop Workers and other workers in the unorganized sector could take benefit of this Scheme. Anganwari Workers and Mid-Day Meal Workers can also avail the benefit of the Scheme. The State Government will also make a contribution of Rs. 1,000 per annum for next Three years in the account of the workers contributing at least Rs. 1000 per annum under this Scheme. A budget provision of Rs. 10 Crore for catering to One Lakh such workers/subscribers has been made by the State Government.
He further said that under the Pradhan Mantri Jiwan Jyoti Bima Yojna all saving bank accounts holders in the age between 18 years – 50 years in participating banks will be entitled to join. The scheme would be a one year cover, renewable from year to year; upto Rs 2 lakhs on death due to any reason, on the annual premium of Rs 330, which will be deducted from the account holder’s savings bank account through ‘Auto Debit’ facility in one instalment. The cover shall be one year period stretching from 1st June to 31st May every year. The scheme would be offered / administered through LIC and other life insurance companies who would be willing to offer the product on similar terms with necessary approvals and tie up with banks for this purpose.
He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna all savings bank account holders in the age between 18 years – 70 years in participating banks will be entitled to join. The scheme will be a one year cover, renewable from year to year, accident insurance scheme offering accidental death and disability cover for death or disability on account of an accident upto Rs 2 Lakh on a premium of Rs 12 Per annum per member.
