Deccan Airways offers to start flights in Himachal Pradesh

Chairman and Managing Director of Deccan Airways Capt. Gopinath in one to one investor meet with Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh at Bengaluru in Karnataka today offered to start multiple flights to Shimla, Kullu and Dharamsala and Kangra from Delhi and Chandigarh and vice-versa.  He placed his proposal to start three flights per day to Shimla from Delhi and as many as two flights from Chandigarh to Kullu and assured that after the necessary clearance, the services can be started in a month to which the State Government agreed in principle.


Evincing keen interest in the offer, the Chief Minister asked to submit the proposal soon so that the government could examine as it was interested to enhance air connectivity.
This follows the holding of investors meet with big business houses to promote tourism in the State in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as an Institutional Partner in a bid to promote HP as a favoured destination for investment in Himachal Pradesh.
“We want to develop an IT park in Himachal Pradesh and the exercise on it will be soon started on reaching Shimla”’ said the Chief Minister while interacting with the entrepreneurs keen to invest in IT sector.
‘TVS’ motor company limited committed to open engine manufacturing plant in larger scale and expand the unit. The representative of TVS, who called upon the Chief Minister sought expansion and additional investment in the State.  They expressed their happiness with the co-operation they were getting from the Himachal Government and committed to invest rupees 300 crore more. They assured to open engine manufacturing plant of TVS scooties in larger Scale. The TVS also committed to start social welfare activities under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The Chief Minister assured all possible co-operations to them in their initiative.
Shri Sudhakarpai, the Chairman and Managing Director of ‘Kurlon’ said the company was looking forward to launch both warm and cold mattresses and he was planning to come over to Himachal Pradesh with an investment of more than 250 crore or partner with entrepreneurs to give strength to them and to the company. He also assured to look into the possibilities of investing in education sector.
Shri Vikram Kirloskar, Vice-Chairman from Toyota was of the view that Himachal was a perfect destination for investment. He showed keen interest in investing in the State.
Other investors including Wipro Consumer care and lighting plant sought expansion and investing more than Rs. 500 crore as per future expansionplans. Expressing happiness, they thanked the Chief Minister for fulfilling the commitments and extending assistance for their unit in the State. The Chief Minister invited the Wipro to invest in the IT sector for which they assured to place their proposal.
Shri Ram Prasad, Director, Inverbras Electrical Pvt. limited who hails from Nurpur in Himachal Pradesh, and is in the business of manufacturing ‘switch-over-switches’ for defense and Navy Ships showed his interest in starting business in the State. Industries Minister proposed to start initially from Kandrori in Kangra which was being coming up as a base for entrepreneurs. He said the Government will appreciate the move as such and invited the proposal.
The representatives of Volvo India ltd also showed keen interest in investing in Himachal besides the representatives from Dell Computers. The Chief Minister urged the Dell authorities to invest in IT sector in Himachal Pradesh for which the Government will provide all possible help for setting up IT parks.
Shri VC Pharka, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Tarun Shridhar, Principal Secretary, Revenue, Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Principal Secretary, Finance & Taxation, Shri SKBS Negi, Principal Secretary, Power, Shri R.D Dhiman, Principal Secretary, Industry & Labour, Shri Rajinder Singh, Director, Industries, Shri Rajinder Chauhan, Advisor Industries, Shri Mohan Chauhan, Director, Tourism were also present in the meetings.
