UNA, JANUARY 9

The 11-day Open Army Recruitment rally today began at the Indira Gandhi stadium in Una city. Despite biting cold, thousands of aspirants began gathering outside the venue since the night.

On the opening day, youth from Bilaspur district were invited to participate in the rally.

The Una district administration issued a stern warning to stamp vendors not to overcharge or issue stamps of undue amount to the youth appearing in the ongoing rally at Indira Stadium here.

As per an official press release, as per the requirements of the Army authorities, the youth had to produce an affidavit. Complaints regarding overcharging and forcefully issuing stamp papers of bigger denominations were, however, received.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary directed the Una Tehsildar to inquire into the complaints and to cancel the licences of vendors involved in cheating the unemployed youth. He said cheating of ignorant rural youth would not be tolerated.

Chaudhary inspected the site of the free 'langar sewa' organized by local organizations for the youth who had come to participate in the rally. Arrangements for morning tea, lunch and dinner had been made.

Appreciating the organizations for the gesture, the ADC directed the municipal authorities to keep the langar area clean.
