Importance of the Red Cross cannot be overstated as it is an organization that takes pride in helping others, no matter where they are located, regardless of race or religion. Besides, it is a humanitarian organization which provides the basic necessities to the people when they have nowhere else to turn.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this while presiding over the closing ceremony of the state level Red Cross fair organized at historic Ridge, here today.
The Chief Minister said that the Red Cross activities in State has increased manifold credit for which goes to each and every volunteer of the Red Cross. The society is providing a great service to the humanity at the time of distress. He appealed to the volunteers to motivate more and more people to join Red Cross activities. He also urged the people to donate liberally towards the state Red Cross as the contribution made goes a long way in providing relief to those in distress. He stressed the need to expand the activities of the Red Cross up to sub-division level.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the state government would provide all possible help to the Red Cross to expand its activities. The HIM CARE scheme has been launched by the government in the state to provide free medical care up to rupees five lakh so that all those who were not covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme could get this facility. He said that a new Sahara Yojna has been launched by the state government to provide relief to the family members having a critically ill patient. Under this scheme, Rs. 2000 are being provided per month for proper care of these patients.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the stalls put up on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. He also tried his hand at shooting on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme was presented by students of local schools on the occasion.
Honorary Secretary, Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch Poonam Chauhan detailed various activities of Red Cross society.
BJP State President Satpal Singh Satti, Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar, Chairperson, State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section (HWS) Dr. Sadhna Thakur, former MP Vimla Kashyap, Mayor Kusum Sedrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma, Vice Chairperson, HWS Phiroza Vijay Singh, Director General of Police S.R. Mardi, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap, Secretary Red Cross P.S. Rana, members and volunteers of District Red Cross were also present on the occasion among others.
