Felicitating the people on Dussehra festival, the Governor urged the people to worship the good character of lord Rama, not the picture and said that we should take inspiration from the life of Lord Rama and follow highest ideals of truth, discipline, dedication and service in order to lead an ideal life and build a healthy society. He said lord Raghunath Ji was symbol of lord Rama and people particularly the young generation should read his biography. He said that youth were the future of the country and should be well versed with our rich traditional practices so that they could be preserved for future generations.
Acharya Devvrat said the word Devta means giving to others and there was a system of worshiping Devtas in Indian tradition. He expressed happiness that the people of the state had maintained their high traditions and deserves appreciation for preserving the rich culture.
The Governor said that people of Himachal Pradesh had maintained its unique identity especially through 'Dev Parampara ' since generations. The fairs and festivals celebrated in the State upheld the rich traditions and customs of the state besides strengthening the bonds of fraternity and brotherhood. They play a major role in preserving our folk art and culture as well, he added.
Ayurveda Minister and Chairman, International Kullu Dusshehra Festival Organizing Committee Karan Singh honoured and welcomed the Governor. He also briefed about the highlights of the weeklong festival.
Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the organizing committee Yunus Khan proposed vote of thanks and also honoured the Lady Governor Darshana Devi.
He apprised that the parents of those girl child who were born after first January this year would be honoured by the district administration during the Kullu Dussehra festival under 'Shobhli Beti' programme with a view to promote the awareness about the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign.
