Reservations in govt. jobs being provided to specially abled:CM

The government is providing social security pension to specially abled  persons of 70 percent or above disability at the rate of Rs 1100 per month said Chief Minister  Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the fourth meeting of the people with special abilities here today and assured that the demand of enhancing the pension would be considered sympathetically. He said that the government was providing a sum of Rs 40,000 to those who tie nuptial knot with the person having more than 70 person disability.

The Chief Minister said that at present three percent reservations was being provided to the persons with special abilities in government jobs. Apart from this, loan facility upto Rs 25 lakh was also being provided to persons with special abilities irrespective of income limit for self-employment opportunities, he added.

It was also decided in the meeting to clear and fill back-log of the persons with special abilities in government jobs. It was informed that so far as many as 1683 posts of differently abled had been filled.

On the issue of free travelling facility in HRTC buses, it was disclosed in the meeting that 40 percent of the seats were reserved for specially abled persons, women and senior citizens on routes upto 50 kilometres and in long journeys seat number 1 & 2 are reserved for the person with special abilities. At present 78329 persons were being provided free travelling facility in HRTC buses and in case of visually impaired one attendant was also allowed to travel free with them. At present there were around 11217 visually impaired persons availing free traveling facility.

It was also informed that one attendant was also allowed to travel free in buses with patients referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Post Graduate Institute of Medical and Education Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

The Chief Minister directed for finding an alternative route/ path for the villagers of gram panchayat Seu in Kalri in Ghumarwin along backside of the college campus, if possible.

The Chief Minister assured that their other demands would be considered sympathetically.

Earlier, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) (Dhani Ram Shandil welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed about the various welfare schemes being implemented by the state government for such persons.

Representatives of the persons with special abilities and senior officers of the State government were also present in the meeting.
