State BJP general secretaries Rajiv Bindal and Randhir Sharma have ridiculed Congress leaders for demanding resignation of BJYM president Anurag Thakur in the alleged bookie links issue.
In separate statements issued here today, they said demanding resignation on frivolous charges without any foundation was not only "ridiculous" but reflected the "narrow minded thinking" of Congress leaders. "We as politicians meet thousands of people every day but this did not mean that we have links with them," they said.
It is clear from the mail sent by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the information was "not verified" and if the ICC had any such information, it should have shared it with the BCCI, but despite clarifications given by the BCCI secretary, Congress leaders were trying to make "mountain out of a molehill", they alleged.
