Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today performed inaugurations and foundation stones worth around Rs. 24 crore in Jaisinghpur assembly segment on the third day of his winter sojourn to district Kangra.
He laid foundation stone of 50 bedded hospital at Jaisinghpur to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.45 crore. He also laid foundation stones of additional building of primary health centre at Panchrukhi to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.85 crore, lift drinking water supply scheme at Dagoh to cost Rs. 58.78 lakh and lift irrigation supply scheme at Sanghole to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.38 crore. He also inaugurated new PHC building at Bhuana constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.28 crore.
While addressing a mammoth gathering at Jaisinghpur, the Chief Minister said there was need to protect the heritage Chowgans (grounds) situated in different parts of the State. The encroachments should not be allowed on historical Chowgans and people of the concerned areas should come forward to protect them. He assured that adequate government support would be provided for restoring the pristine beauty of the ground at Jaisinghpur.
He announced for constructing science block in Jaisinghpur college and said that the Jaisinghpur hospital inaugurated today would have 20 beds initially and soon an additional block would be constructed for housing 30 more beds. He announced for constructing bus stand at Jaisinghpur depending upon the availability of the space. He also announced foot-bridge at Bhulander, starting science classes at Sanghole and Lahru senior secondary schools and up-gradation of Ropri middle school to high school.
Earlier, the Chief Minister opened the range office of the forest department at Jaisinghpur which was closed way back, and it would benefit 51 Panchayats and a population of around 80 thousands. He also laid foundation stones of two bridges on Bandahoo-Bairghata road to cost Rs. 5.70 crore, Ayurvedic health centre at Kosri to cost Rs. 42.50 lakh and also inaugurated a bridge at Nahlana to be completed at a cost of Rs. 98.41 lakh. He laid foundation stone of Dandel bridge on Sukad khud at Jaisinghpur to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.30 crore.
He assured the government would takeover the Shivnagar college, Jaisinghpur in government sector adding that and before taking over the private colleges it was must that the government receive proposal from them.
Virbhadra Singh said he had written to the Prime Minister of India to provide adequate budget under MNREGA and expressed hope that the union government would not curtail the State share and grant of funds under MNREGA. He said that it was an innovative scheme started by UPA, which had provided economic support to many poor especially in rural areas.
“People of the State are my strength and I am committed for their welfare” said he. He urged people to stay united even in adverse circumstances adding that politics should not be based on caste, colour or creed but it should be for seeking the development, finding means as how to take the State ahead and earn credit and love of the people. He said today Himachal Pradesh was one of the most developed States of the country and in the field of education it was leading after Kerela.
The Chief Minister said as of today, around 80 degree colleges were functioning in the State out of which 17 colleges were opened during last two years only. Health sector was another priority sector for the state and three new three medical colleges were being established at Nahan, Chamba and Hamirpur for which a provision of Rs 190 crore each had been made. IIM was being opened in Paonta, Indian Institute of Technology in Mandi and many such high educational institutions were being opened in the State so to provide standardized higher education to the children.
He said that work of four-laning of Shimla-Parwanoo, Swarghat-Mandi, Shimla-Theog- Hatkoti, Dramman-Sihunta road was under progress.
Earlier, MLA Yadvendra Goma welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and thanked him for inaugurating and performing foundation stones of the development projects worth crores in his home segment.
Goma also placed demands of the people of the area the foremost being filling up posts of gynecological doctors besides opening of veterinary hospital at Jaisinghpur and construction of science block of Kanwar Durgachand College. He also urged for beautification of the Chowgan for which the adequate funds to the tune of Rs. 40 lakhs were available. He also placed his demand for permanent solution for fencing the fields of all those villages situated along the banks of river Beas.
Chairman Kangra Central Co-operative Bank Jagdish Chand Sapahiya listed the development in the area. He demanded a bus depot for Jaisinghpur and early completion of combined office complex.
