During his first visit to remote Nirmand area of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh, chief minister Virbhadra Singh announced various developmental projects for the area besides promising to Nagar panchayat for remote areas if such a proposal is mooted to him.
Virbhadra Singh said that providing better health, education and road facilities in the rural and far-flung areas was being accorded special priority by state government. He was presiding over the closing ceremony of 15th Rajmata Shanti Devi National Volleyball Tournament at Nirmand in Kullu district. Chief minister also laid foundation stones of Nirmand Beautification Scheme costing Rs 3 crore and bus stand costing Rs 2.3 crore.
In his address, Virbhadra Singh announced to upgrade community health centre Nirmand into 50 bedded hospital which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 233.28 lakh. He announced to upgrade Randal and Ladagi (Muchhair) Government High Schools to Senior Secondary Schools and Averi Primary School to Middle School and to open Government Primary School at Shanu in Arsu Gram Panchayat adding that helipad would also be constructed at a suitable place at Nirmand.
Chief minister said that 52 gram panchayats of Ani constituency had been connected with road facility while remaining six panchayats would be connected in next two-three years. He said that out of 120 villages having more than 250 population, 83 had been given road facility and rest villages would be connected soon. A 126-meter long span bridge was being constructed at Moien over Satluj river which would be dedicated to people of the area by the end of December this year. Another bridge was being constructed over Kurpan khad on Avera Ghatoo road at Kedas by spending Rs 105 lakh, he said.
"The construction of bridge over Nauni khad on Avera Ghatoo road was under process by spending Rs 15 lakh. Office of the assistant public relations officer in Ani was also being constructed by spending Rs 29.54 lakh," he added.
He said a provision of Rs 1,977.85 lakh had been made for Public Works Department during this financial year for Ani constituency. He said detailed project report to the tune of Rs 28.22 crore had been prepared for augmentation of various water supply schemes of left bank of Kurpan khad in Nirmand block.
